Moving Beyond Pain

Moving Beyond Pain, founded by Andy Steigmeier, is an integrative approach for treating acute and chronic pain. It refers to a state of life beyond the limitations and challenges imposed by pain, focusing on strategies and natural approaches to help individuals find relief, gain control, become stronger, and live a pain-free meaningful life without the need for drugs or surgery. Andy provides gentle hands on therapeutic bodywork techniques with strength and conditioning exercises to bring your body back into balance. He treats a wide range of people and teaches natural ways to heal and move beyond pain.

Moving Beyond Pain is a gentle and effective hands-on body therapy for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. 

 

Moving Beyond Pain helps to:

  • increase your range of motion

  • correct posture

  • correct muscle imbalance 

  • correct skeletal alignment 

  • strengthen areas of muscle weakness

  • prevent and overcome injury

 

Moving Beyond Pain integrates a variety of natural remedies and protocols; some of which are osteopathic, neuromuscular, breathing techniques, meditation, movement protocols, and a wide range of stretching and strengthening exercises, and functional movement. These techniques are highly effective for every level of ability. It helps with all kinds of pain, to name a few are: Lower Back Pain, Hips, Tension Headaches & Migraines, Neck Pain, TMJ, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Tennis/Golf Elbow, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Sciatica, Knee Pain, Plantar Fasciitis, Fibromyalgia, and more.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Initial Assessment 

A new client will first have an Initial Assessment which includes a history of injury, assessment of pain, a gentle hands-on treatment, and the session concludes with a unique Therapeutic Home Exercise Plan based on the philosophy of Moving Beyond Pain. In each session, Andy spends time educating clients on basic muscle and bone anatomy to help them gain clarity about their body and the root cause(s) of their pain. Moving Beyond Pain gives clients the opportunity to gain harmony in their body and maintain a life that is pain free.

Follow Up Sessions

Hands on gentle and effective Moving Beyond Pain bodywork protocols, continued assessment, education, and evaluation of the customized Therapeutic Exercise Plan. *Please wear loose and comfortable clothing. 


 

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE PLANS

Strength and Conditioning / Therapeutic Exercise 

  • Based on need - 60 - 90 minutes

  • Please wear athletic work out clothing

 

Pain is most often rooted in muscle weakness and/or muscle imbalance. During an assessment, Andy custom designs Therapeutic Exercise Plan tailored for your needs. This home exercise plan is influenced by the examination findings and or medical diagnosis indicated. Every plan is designed to correct the root causes. Plans are then evaluated and modified as a client progresses and responds to the plan. 

 

Therapeutic Exercise Plans work systematically through physical movements, activity, stretching and strengthening. and brings about positive changes in the nervous system, musculoskeletal system, circulatory system as well as the endocrine system. Plans enhance sports performance, reduce injury, optimize overall health, and enhance overall fitness and well-being. 

 

Therapeutic Exercise Plans (TEP) may include:

  • muscular conditioning or reconditioning

  • body mechanics training

  • breathing exercises

  • coordination and balance exercises

  • muscle lengthening

  • muscle strengthening

  • movement pattern training

  • neuromuscular education or reeducation

  • range of motion exercises     

  • soft tissue stretching

  • relaxation exercises 

  • power and endurance exercises

 

Therapeutic Exercise Plans (TEP) promote:

  • relaxation and the release of tension and pain

  • increase muscle strength and endurance as well as mobility of joints and soft tissues

  • develops coordination through improved control of individual muscles

  • a healthy lifestyle that prevents injury

Andy Steigmeier is the founder of Moving Beyond Pain. He is a pain specialist integrating positional therapy and therapeutic exercise for the treatment of chronic and acute pain, pre/post-surgical therapy, muscle weakness/imbalance and injuries. He is a licensed massage therapist and strength and conditioning specialist, with a mission to help individuals live pain free without surgery or medications. 

Andy has studied health and wellness since 1991. He is a graduate of Arizona State University BA program in Communication and Business. He went on to serve honorably in the United States Marine Corps for a total of 8 years. Andy also worked in corporate operations management for 10 years and left to follow a calling to the field of health and wellness. Having a personal history of multiple sports injuries and surgeries, Andy was interested in natural pain remedies and healing. He became a certified strength and conditioning specialist, working for a highly respected sports medicine practice in Manhattan, New York administering post-surgical rehabilitation protocols. Integrating his business background and passions for healing, Andy became a licensed therapeutic body worker and owned The Center for Health and Healing with his wife Melanie Ryan from 2012 to 2020. Together, they shifted and merged their passions of natural healing and the skills and knowledge of wilderness living to form Ancient Wisdom Today. 

 

Ancient Wisdom Today is all about getting to the root of our humanity, healing mind, body and spirit and understanding who we are at the core of our existence and maximizing that potential.
