Join us for this workshop style gathering for meditation and the teachings of mindfulness as presented by the Tibetan Buddhist Master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche (teacher of Pema Chödron).
Each class will begin with meditation instruction, practice of “shamatha” calm abiding, dharma talks and discussions based on Part One of the book, “Shambhala: Sacred Path of the Warrior.” (Chapters 1-10) covering topics on basic goodness, cocoon and how we can access compassion, awareness and bravery in our world. Part two will cover the rest of the book and will be offered following this part one session. See website for registration. Classes are led by Melanie Ryan, LCSWR.
“It is an approach to personal and social well-being, a journey of understanding and realization CTR called “warriorship.” This path revolves around two key themes. First, humans are innately awake and dignified, “basically good.” And second, society, as an expression of human nature, is also basically good. Thus, becoming a warrior has nothing to do with making war or acting aggressively. Rather, it is the discovery of the seed of bravery within us all.”
By his son Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche
Chögyam Trungpa (1940–1987)—meditation master, teacher, and artist—founded Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, the first Buddhist-inspired university in North America; the Shambhala Training program; and an international association of meditation centers known as Shambhala International. He is the author of numerous books, holder of both the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages, the eleventh Trungpa tülku, a tertön, supreme abbot of the Surmang monasteries, scholar, teacher, poet, artist, and originator of a radical re-presentation of Shambhala vision of developing an enlightened society.
